Unapologetic

Early morning haiku

When moms beat daughters
For telling startling truths
Do they feel better

Lashes welt my skin
They’re unapologetic
They don’t hurt as much

You don’t remember
Yet I can never forget
Lies break the silence

I’m sure you worry
There’s a monster in the room
Groping your daughter

I have forgiven
The scent of you on my skin
What of mine on you

Try to touch my child
Wish a motherf***er would
Penis in the trash

I’d willingly serve
Life sentences with no tears
Just to protect
