Drifting

It’s like I’m the ocean and you’re a retention pond in the back of an Alabama trailer park
As much as I love the safety of your waters, they hinder me
Capturing my essence and blocking out the rest of me
I want to move but they entrap me
And although it’s peaceful, the truth is
There’s too many restrictions yet not enough land
Trailers side by side but they’re not moving anywhere
Just steel legs and cold unfertile soil refusing to let go
